Man arrested for allegedly threatening to kill CNN reporters over "fake news"
According to CNN, a Michigan man named Brandon Griesemer has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill employee’s at CNN’s headquarters in Georgia. Griesemer reportedly called CNN 22 times on January 9 and January 10, with several of the calls including threats against the news organization as well as “disparaging statements” about Jewish people and black people. In the first threatening call, Griesemer’s comments allegedly included “Fake news, I’m coming to gun you all down,” and in the second he allegedly said he was on his way to “gun the fucking CNN cast down” before adding “I am coming to kill you.”
In September, Griesemer admitted to calling an Islamic Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and making “derogatory comments” about Muslim people, explaining to authorities later that he was “angry at the time of the call.” The cell phone number used in both the CNN and Ann Arbor calls was registered to Griesemer’s father, who he currently lives with. Regarding those CNN calls, Griesemer has now been charged with “transmitting interstate communications with the intent to extort and threat to injure,” and he was released on Friday on a $10,000 bond.
