NBC News fires Mark Halperin over sexual harassment allegations
Just a few days after NBC News suspended Game Change author Mark Halperin from his MSNBC position, the organization has formally terminated his contract and cut ties with the veteran journalist. The original suspension came in response to sexual harassment allegations from multiple women who said that Halperin had groped them or propositioned them for sex while he was the political director at ABC news. He eventually apologized, admitting to “aggressive and crude” behavior while at ABC, but he defended himself by saying that he has worked to act more appropriately since then.
Evidently, that wasn’t enough for pretty much anybody that Halperin currently works with—or at least anyone he worked with up until last week. HBO dropped its plans to develop a miniseries with Halperin about the 2016 election, Penguin Press canceled its plans to publish the book that the miniseries would’ve been based on, and Showtime announced that The Circus (which he co-hosts) will be back without Halperin if it comes back at all.
