TBS suspends production on Louis CK's cop cartoon with Albert Brooks
Deadline reports that TBS has now suspended production on The Cops, its upcoming animated comedy produced by and starring Albert Brooks and Louis CK. News of the suspension comes shortly after FX—which served as a producer on the show—announced that it was cutting all ties with CK, in the wake of sexual harassment allegations made against him in a recent New York Times article (and for at least five years before that, behind closed comedy doors).
TBS gave a 10-episode to The Cops earlier this year, largely on the strength of a then-ironclad comedy pedigree: Not just CK and Brooks, playing two cartoon policemen with dysfunctional lives, but also Greg Daniels, the guy partially responsible for the success of shows like The Office, Parks And Rec, and King Of The Hill.
The network’s statement was short and to the point, simply noting that, “Production on The Cops has been suspended until further review.”
