You can stop asking Oprah to be president now

After Oprah Winfrey gave a galvanizing speech about the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements at this year’s Golden Globes, the internet couldn’t sign petitions or form an exploratory committee fast enough to back a 2020 presidential campaign by the media mogul. But that fervor for another celebrity candidate will probably cool after reading this Instyle interview with Winfrey, in which the current Mrs. Which plainly states she’s not interested in running for president.

Given that her charisma and business success ostensibly make her more qualified than the current chief executive, speculation on her candidacy resumed once more after hearing Winfrey’s latest powerful message. Winfrey’s recent sale of her remaining stake in her OWN Network also fueled the rumor mill. But, as she tells Instyle, being president isn’t “something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it.” (Diehard believers in the power of Oprah will probably chose to insert that John C. Maxwell quote about the desire for and responsibility of power here.)

Winfrey remains passionate about interviewing, though, and is returning to her 60 Minutes profiling gig. There’s also this pretty big adaptation she’s starring in, that’s due out March 9.
