100 Streets trailer gives 100 reasons to watch the movie, and they’re all Idris Elba
Perfect man Idris Elba plays perfect man Max in the upcoming film 100 Streets. A retired rugby player, Max’s seemingly perfect life unravels when his seemingly perfect marriage to former actress Emma (Gemma Arterton) falls apart. The new trailer for the film deceptively makes it look like 100 Streets is all about Max and Emma, but the movie actually follows three different, overlapping stories (yep, it’s one of those heady interwoven ensemble dramas). All three stories take place in one square mile of modern-day London.
Aside from Max and Emma, there’s also Kingsley (Franz Drameh), a small-time drug dealer trying to get off the streets, who meets local stage actor Terence (Ken Stott) while doing community service. Terence helps lead Kingsley down a new and creative path. There’s also cab driver George (Charlie Creed-Miles) and his wife Kathy (Kierston Wareing), who want to start a family but have their worlds turned upside down by a terrible road accident that tests their marriage and resilience. “Anybody can make a wrong turn, but it’s the journey that allows us to find the right path,” the official description reads. So 100 Streets is about people…on a journey. It sounds like every movie ever? Again, the trailer is literally just all Idris Elba all the time, but hey, that means the trailer’s priorities are in order. We thought of 100 reasons to see 100 Streets, and they’re all Idris Elba.
100 Streets releases in theaters and on digital and on demand on January 13.
