24 movie delayed, supposedly part of a trilogy
Apparently no one installed countdown clocks into the bedrooms of everyone involved in the upcoming 24 movie, because the project is having some serious scheduling issues. According to Indiewire Fox and Kiefer Sutherland couldn’t hammer out the timing for shooting before Sutherland had to get back to the set for the second season of the math-a-magical Touch. (Perhaps it might have been easier if they had, say, some sort of ironclad time period at the end of which some sort of apocalypse-triggering event would happen?)
Deadline has doubts that the movie will go forward at all, but if Fox rallies after Touch season two, Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is circling the project. Also, apparently the screenwriters had plans to turn the 24 film into a trilogy, so really, more of a 72. Too bad we’ll have to wait at least another year for some more CTU in our lives, but not to worry: If anyone can crack the executives holding up the project using nothing but a well-placed cigar-cutter, it’s probably Jack Bauer.
