30 Rockefeller Plaza is now called the Comcast Building
In what would make for a hilarious episode of 30 Rock were the show still on the air, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the building that houses NBC’s world headquarters, has been renamed. The building, affectionately nicknamed “30 Rock,” joins arenas everywhere in expressing its allegiance to its new corporate masters. But rather than proclaim its love for smoothies, razors, shitty pizza, or online bargain shopping, the building now touts a company name usually hissed through the clenched teeth of rage-filled consumers in their third hour on hold. Yep, they’re calling it the Comcast Building.
New signage was unveiled on the building last night, a change that was covered by company shill Lester Holt on the NBC Nightly News. This is actually the third incarnation of the 70-story skyscraper; it was first named for its original owner, RCA, and was renamed in honor of new tenant GE in 1988. Whether syndicated episodes of 30 Rock will have to be digitally altered to reflect the name change, Dukes Of Hazzard-style, remains unknown.
