50 Cent album delayed

Originally scheduled for a June 26 release, 50 Cent's new album Curtis (is Curtis Mayfield aware of this?) has been bumped to September 4 to allow for maximum disappointment. Just kidding. Here's the official statement:

"I'm an international artist," 50 Cent said. "My fans worldwide deserve to receive my album at the same time as my fans here in the US. Taking that into consideration, moving the album to September was a necessary course of action."

However, the wording on this Billboard.com story indicates that the real reason for the delay is that he needs a little more time to finish the tracks—probably a good strategy, considering the tepid reaction to already-leaked singles "Straight To The Bank" and "Amusement Park," which are currently hanging around spots 49 and 53 respectively on the R&B;/Hip-Hop charts.
