Just when you thought there was only a certain amount of Smiths music to be heard and that you'd already heard it enough times, out pops this weird little thing, The Pablo Cuckoo Tape. Recorded straight-to-cassette sometime before the band's aborted first attempt at a self-titled debut, it features nine songs performed live—and remarkably well, including some alternate lyrics. (Yes, this band was very, very good.) It's not the treasure trove that the sorta-recent Unreleased Demos & Instrumentals was, but for fans it's still pretty cool. (Non-fans, you may go back to eating meat and not getting double pneumonia or whatever it is you do.)
