With Thanksgiving coming up, there’s no better time to watch what we can only assume is a predictably wacky and light-hearted trailer for next summer’s Cars 3. Kids love those Cars movies, mostly because it’s fun to see cars drive around and talk to other cars the way people do, and though we haven’t actually watched this Cars 3 teaser yet, we imagine it’ll still be all about the exciting antics of heroic race car Lightning McQueen and his goofball buddy Mater.
Seriously, though, Lightning McQueen suffers what looks like a fatal crash in this teaser, so Cars 3 is probably going to be a sober exploration of the way that sentient cars deal with grief. Remember that scene in Toy Story 3 where the toys held hands and accepted that they were about to fall into a burning hell-pit? Hopefully it’ll be like that, but spread out over the entire movie. Kids will love it.
Cars 3 will race into theaters on June 16, 2017.
