A former President’s in trouble in new Independence Day: Resurgence TV spot

The first full trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence helpfully reintroduced audiences to the excitement they felt when they first witnessed some major renovations in the nation’s capital, while a subsequent TV spot demonstrated how gravity works. The latest teaser for the long-awaited sequel reminds us that no one is safe, not even former President Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pullman), who gets flung around a room before doing a Brent Spiner impression. Speaking of Spiner, his character’s been revived in the years that have passed, and he remains attuned to the needs of the aliens, which appear to be dance music for their “celebration.” When asked if this should make everyone nervous, David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) says “yes,” though the preceding “uh, that is, I, uh,” was presumably edited out for the teaser.

Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24, the day four days after the day we celebrate our summer solstice.
