After years—hell, even decades—of anticipation further fueled by Gal Gadot’s colorful appearance as the character in the otherwise quite dour Batman V. Superman, Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for its upcoming Wonder Woman movie following the film’s appearance at Comic-Con. At the superhero-heavy Warner Bros. panel in Hall H earlier this afternoon, director Patty Jenkins introduced stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Connie Nielsen before debuting the first footage from the film.
Opening with the arrival of Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor on the shores of Themyscira, the trailer follows the journey of confident, strong-willed Amazon princess Diana Prince as she leaves her homeland—and her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen)—to join the fray of World War I. Featuring both action and humor—upon being introduced to Trevor’s secretary, Diana remarks, “where I’m from, that’s called slavery”—in a lavish period setting, the trailer seems to promise a thrilling ride when Wonder Woman opens June 2, 2017.
