A lawyer, a blogger, and a TV exec walk into ABC and sell it a show

Answering the age-old joke, “What do you get when a lawyer, a blogger, and the creator of Drop Dead Diva walk into a TV network and pitch them a show,” ABC has purchased a pilot for a new crime and media drama, Notorious. The series—from executive producers Josh Berman, blogger Allie Hagan, attorney Kenny Meiselas, and a bunch of other people—is apparently a ”provocative look at the interplay of criminal law and the media,” and was inspired—as all provocative things must be—by Larry King. Specifically, Deadline reports, the relationship between Larry King Live producer Wendy Walker and high-profile defense attorney Mark Geragos, who often appeared on the CNN suspenders forum. Geragos and Walker will both executive produce on the series, presumably on the logic that it’s what everybody’s doing these days.

Aping the pair’s real lives, Notorious will center on an attorney and a TV producer who find themselves entangled on a personal and professional level, “as they attempt to control the media, the justice system, and ultimately–each other.” (Geragos and Walker are apparently super-comfortable with the entire world knowing how into manipulating its laws and perceptions they are.) Anyway, if you felt a little erotic frisson reading that manipulative description, congratulations: You are exactly the market ABC is looking for, for yet another series about sexy people toying with the sexy media, before eventually heading back to their sexy neighborhoods, doing some sexy grocery shopping, and then probably having some sex.
