A lot of people are torturing themselves with the Suicide Squad soundtrack
Suicide Squad remained at the top of the box office this weekend, but its total cash haul dropped like a helicopter falling from the sky. (If you haven’t seen the movie, please note that many airborne vessels crash.) But despite the vast amounts of wreckage surrounding this entry into the DC franchise, Warner Bros. has another reason to cheer: Apparently a lot of people were really eager to hear Panic! At The Disco’s interpretation of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The soundtrack—which features that cover—ended up at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week, racking up 182,000 “equivalent album units,” per Billboard, which totals up traditional sales, streams, and track downloads. It’s the first soundtrack to hit the top of the chart in about a year; the last to do so was the one accompanying Disney Channel movie Descendants.
In addition to the aforementioned bastardization of Queen, Suicide Squad: The Album’s track list includes some of the more egregiously obvious music cues from the movie, including Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” and Eminem’s “Without Me.” The crowning turd, however, is the collaboration between Skrillex and Rick Ross, “Purple Lamborghini.” If you wish to assault your senses, you are welcome to watch its music video.
