A new Blade Runner 2049 trailer will debut with Alien: Covenant
It’s a big year for Ridley Scott—not only is his second Alien prequel debuting next month, but the long-awaited Blade Runner sequel is due out in October. The director only helmed Alien: Covenant, but he’s still feeling well chuffed about the overlap in cinematic follow-ups. The Associated Press recently spoke to Scott about all the prequel/sequel action (he’s a producer on Blade Runner 2049), and he said that while he was happy to work on the films, he remains more interested in “what’s next.”
“I never look back. I only look forward and think I’m very lucky to be able to do that,” Scott said, which does seem a bit at odds with spending years getting a sequel to Prometheus off the ground. Of course, it’s no longer being billed that way; with the title, Alien: Covenant, Scott and 20th Century Fox are trying to tie the film more closely to the original franchise. But speaking of looking forward, Scott says a new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 will screen before Alien: Covenant when the latter hits theaters on May 19. Blade Runner 2049 will be released on October 6.
