A new Civil War featurette digs into Black Panther’s power and point of view

We’ve still got about a half hour before Marvel Entertainment’s Comic-Con panel arrives to thunderous applause (and then climaxes with a bunch of CGI explosions and poorly sketched-out villainy, one can only assume). In the meantime, though, Marvel has served up a couple little treats to keep fans from wandering off to geek out about Star Trek or the Justice League. Most notably, they’ve released a featurette from the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Captain America: Civil War—out September 13—investigating the viewpoint of one of its most enigmatic heroes: Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther.

The video opens with Marvel Studios mastermind Kevin Feige discussing the importance of Prince T’Challa’s outsider perspective, before switching to Boseman to discuss the clandestine way in which he received the part. “Kevin was like, ‘Hey, we’re calling you about this character that I think you’re interested in. I think you know who I’m talking about,’” Boseman recalls with a laugh. “And I said, ‘Yeah, I think so.’” (It’s possible that Marvel’s getting a little too heavily into all the spy shenanigans of its more recent films.)
