A reunited Thursday leads this year’s lineup for Atlanta’s Wrecking Ball fest

In an already over-crowded music festival landscape, last year marked the inaugural edition of Wrecking Ball, an Atlanta-based festival whose lineup was culled from a mix of punk veterans and sprightly up-and-comers. Today, Wrecking Ball announced the lineup for its second year, and it’s even more impressive than the first. While its headliners lean heavily on reunions (Quicksand, L7, Drive Like Jehu, American Football), it’s the addition of Thursday that’s the most notable. The New Jersey post-hardcore band played its last show five years ago, and though it was often marginalized in its time for being part of the Warped Tour set, Thursday was always a cut above. (Its final album, No Devolución, is its best.)

Despite the impressive list of reunited bands playing Wrecking Ball, though, it’s far from a pure nostalgia trip. With the likes of Deafheaven, Touché Amoré, and Bully taking part, Wrecking Ball highlights both old and new through their shared sonic touchstones. Wrecking Ball takes place on August 13 and 14 at the Masquerade in Atalanta, and the full lineup for this year’s fest can be found below.
