A third Bridget Jones is definitely in the works

Following in the footsteps of Bruce Willis, Renee Zellweger seems likely to have her star-making franchise rebooted: According to The London Evening Standard, Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding has begun writing the third installment of her popular series, saying that she is “working on both the book and the film, but I don’t know if they are the same thing.” In the meantime, Fielding unveiled three pages of new material at a reading in London and discussed some of the major themes of the work-in-progress, which she says will revolve around Bridget’s “mid-30s baby crisis.” There’s been talk of a third Bridget Jones pretty much since the last one hit theaters, and Zellweger officially signed on to do one back in 2009. Colin Firth similarly expressed his openness to returning to the franchise via a BBC interview last month—though of course, that was before he won an Oscar. [via Coming Soon]
