A.V. Club to release book this fall: Inventory in stores October 13
We've alluded to a secret project here and there over the last year or so. And now the secret is out. And it looks like this:
Yes, that's a book. Specifically, it's Inventory: 16 Films Featuring Manic Pixie Dream Girls, 10 Great Songs Nearly Ruined By Saxophone And 100 More Obsessively Specific Pop-Culture Lists. Regular readers of this site will recognize parts of that title from our Inventory feature. But don't expect nothing but reruns: The book's about 15% greatest hits and 85% new material. Like what? Like these:
The Movies Don't Want You, Tony Danza: 28-Plus Films That Failed To Make Movie Stars Out Of TV Stars
Stay Off The Hell Bus: 13 Songs About The Horrors Of Bus Travel
Toilets Are For Chumps: 24 Stupid Inventions For Lazy Americans
Oh, The Places You Shouldn't Go: 15 Dr. Seuss Characters That Sound Like Sex Toys
But wait, there's more: Inventory also features an introduction by Chuck Klosterman and guest lists from Zach Galifianakis, Amy Sedaris, Patton Oswalt, Paul Thomas Anderson, "Weird Al" Yankovic and more. Plus fantastic illustrations from Danny Hellman, production design from Jon Resh that will melt your eyes, and a pair of book-length megalists: Things In A.V. Club Heaven and Things In A.V. Club Hell. (Heaven: Blade Runner; Hell: Runaway.)
It's published by Scribner. It will be in stores October 13th (in time for the holidays!) And it's available for pre-order at Amazon now for a low, low price. (Also, thanks to all of you for supporting us and making this possible.)
