A valiant attempt to create SNL’s 15-flavor “pizza crepe taco pancake chili bag”

The 2005 Saturday Night Live “Taco Town” skit is a great example of the show’s escalating commercial absurdity, thanks to Andy Samberg’s wonderfully enthusiastic idiot-guy faces and the surprising level of detail in their invented 15-flavor taco monstrosity. Ostensibly a riff on Taco Bell’s Double Decker Taco, which wrapped a bean burrito around a hard-shell beef taco, the SNL version also escalated to include pizza, a crepe, and, well, a bunch of shit. Get a refresher below.

In order to celebrate his millionth subscriber, Binging With Babish host Andrew Rea tackled the monstrosity on his pop-culture cooking show. Rea also provided a bunch of very nice behind-the-scenes stuff in order to thank his million subscribers, but, really, the lure here is watching him not just try but succeed at piecing together a crepe, pizza, multiple tacos, deep frying it all for 20 minutes, and then dumping into a bag full of chili. It looks pretty good!

In the process, his how-to celebrates the structural integrity of the original dish as envisioned in the sketch. Pizza? Now that’s what we call a taco!
