A24’s film library is available on a streaming service you can already get for free

A24, the little film studio that is kicking an unholy amount of ass these days, has a roster of recent films that would be the envy of nearly any producer on the planet. From Lady Bird to The Florida Project to Ex Machina and more, its library is fantastic—and you can already watch it for free.

The only problem is, most of us don’t realize it, because we’re a bunch of dummies who can’t fully appreciate the advantages of a library card. See, A24 makes its films available to Kanopy, a streaming service that has approximately zero name recognition in the wider world of pop culture. Which is a shame, because it comes free with most library memberships in America. (Not all, unfortunately, and if you’re one of the very few whose library doesn’t use Kanopy, our apologies.) In other words, all you have to do is support your local library by signing up, and you could be watching The Killing Of A Sacred Deer right this instant, or listening to another friend complain about how The Witch is overrated while you freeze certain scenes and try to explain why it’s actually really badass.

Not every title in A24’s stable is on there yet—more recent films have yet to be added (First Reformed, yes; Eighth Grade, no). But overall, it’s an excellent service, and in addition to A24 movies, there’s the little benefit of thousands of other titles, from old classics to studio superhero tentpoles alike. Basically, let’s all remember to renew our library memberships.
