ABC buys multi-generational soap from Nashville producer and former Sony head Amy Pascal

ABC has tapped Nashville producer Taylor Hamra and Pascal Pictures—headed up by former Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal, whose tenure at the studio ended last year in a flurry of hacked emails and Seth Rogen’s old weed funk—for a new multi-generational soap. According to Deadline, the network has offered a script commitment to American Heritage, centered on the ensuing culture clash when two vastly different Los Angeles families are brought together to helm a successful real estate firm.

Hamra’s resume is heavy on soapy drama, including Nashville and a writer-producer turn on TNT’s Dallas revival. Meanwhile, American Heritage is the first major TV sale for Pascal Pictures, which is branching out into TV after working on Pascal-produced film projects like Ghostbusters and the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
