Should you be a struggling television writer attempting to get noticed in today’s fickle, hurly-burly industry with your passion project, consider throwing “bitch” in the title—particularly if you’re trying to get on ABC. It worked for Good Christian Bitches, and now it’s working for the new comedy Don’t Trust The Bitch In Apartment 23, which just received an order for a pilot to be directed by Modern Family’s Jason Winer and co-written by American Dad’s Nahnatchka Khan and David Hemingson. The show concerns a “naïve young woman” whose wide-eyed journey into the urban jungle of New York is complicated by her “troublemaking party girl roommate.” No word on whether said party girl is the “bitch” of the title—which could potentially cause some complications for her non-bitch cohabitant when people are all, like, “That’s the bitch in Apartment 23” and she always has to respond, “No, that’s my roommate!” in an increasingly aggrieved tone of voice—or whether it’s another bitch doing bitch things off-camera, perhaps as some sort of never-seen, shrouded-in-mystery, Godot-like figure.
