ABC Family adding The Hand That Rocks The Cradle adaption to its family-friendly murder shows

The latest movie to make the transition to TV, possibly to make room for all the TV shows transitioning to movies, could be The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, the 1992 Rebecca De Mornay-starring thriller that illustrates the importance of always hiring a nanny who’s maybe a 3 or 4, at best. It’s a lesson the movie’s wife, played by Annabella Sciorra, took about 40 minutes to learn, as De Mornay’s young, seductive babysitter exacted her revenge on Sciorra, after the latter made the misconduct allegations that caused De Mornay’s doctor husband to kill himself. Presumably it will take the TV wife significantly longer than that, as Supernatural’s Daniel Loflin writes and executive produces a weekly version of the R-rated film that will provide all the psychosexual drama and multiple homicides that the network—home to Pretty Little Liars, Ravenswood, Twisted, and the upcoming The Final Girlsknows will entertain America’s own fucked-up families.
