ABC orders yet another cop comedy, this one starring Hannibal Buress

Determined to fulfill its campaign promises to increase the bumbling police presence on sitcom city streets next year, ABC has purchased yet another cop comedy to go with the three others it already has in development—this one starring Hannibal Buress, whose deadpan demeanor and focus on both details and petty grievances would indeed make him well suited for law enforcement. The show is co-written by Buress and Rob Sheridan and it's reportedly inspired by his stand-up, which suggests that Buress' "cop in a small town" character will mostly be charged with investigating the absurdity of certain phrases and behaviors, in addition to cracking the case on the inanity of hip-hop lyrics. Then maybe we'll all feel safe letting our fake kids play in our TV neighborhoods again.
