ABC postpones the return of Shondaland for real-life political shitshow
In case you’re in the market for yet another reason to be despondent over the presidential inauguration next week, this bit of news should come in handy. Apparently, the looming specter of an impending Trump administration has been deemed important enough to hijack ABC’s primetime programming the night before the incoming president puts his tiny little hands on the Bible, according to Deadline. Unfortunately, that means that the scheduled January 19 return of all the Shondaland-produced shows that make up Thank God It’s Thursday are being pushed back a week.
So if you were hoping to distract yourself from encroaching doom by falling into a TV wormhole with Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder, you’ll have to rethink your plans. Of course, you can always watch America’s First Family: The Trumps Go To Washington on ABC at 10 p.m. ET that night (along with repeats of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal), but that’s a much less escapist version of the political shitshows and all-around sociopathy that make up ABC’s normal Thursday night fare.
In related news, Trump’s victory is reportedly also causing U2 to postpone its latest album release. It’s an ill wind that blows no good.
