ABC renews Black-ish

You can add Black-ish to the list of well-received ABC sitcoms that survived the network’s run of cancellations today. Entertainment Weekly reports that the show was picked up for a fourth season earlier this afternoon. That’s not entirely surprising, honestly; beyond the fact that the Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross-starring series is a critical darling with a strong fan following, there’s also the fact that ABC’s sister network, Freeform, is currently looking at becoming the host for the series’ first planned spin-off. That show will follow Yara Shahidi’s character, Zoey, to college. Meanwhile, the Johnson family will continue their regular run on the network proper.
