ABC to trap trendy Manhattanites in a bar for your amusement

In one of the stranger acquisitions of a development season that already has a steampunk Tom Sawyer show, ABC has just purchased Mixology from Hangover writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, a sitcom that, like their hit film, revolves around the consumption of booze over a brief period of time. Here, however, it's five men and five women who are all "trying to find love at a trendy Manhattan bar"—the twist being that the show takes place over the course of a single night. So, should Mixology stretch on to a full season or beyond, viewers will be tuning in week after week to see its imprisoned characters wear the same outfits night after night, have the same pointless conversations with the same people, and limit their entire desperate search for companionship to the confines of the same increasingly obnoxious club. In other words, it would be a documentary, save for its other comical twist that someone's actually going to "find love" that way.
