ABC wants Shonda Rhimes to do the Grey’s Anatomy thing with a legal drama
Shonda Rhimes is unstoppable. Even when formerly reliable hits like Grey’s Anatomy or Scandal stumble, Rhimes and her ShondaLand production company just get right back up and keep the hits coming. In addition to those two shows, ShondaLand already has How To Get Away With Murder, The Catch, and Still Star-Crossed all on ABC, and the network is so happy to be in the ShondaLand business that it just ordered another ShondaLand show. This comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says the new show will be a legal drama based in “the Southern District of New York Federal Court,” which is apparently known as “The Mother Court.” Like what Grey’s did with young doctors, it will follow “brand-new lawyers” as they “handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country.” Of course, this is a Shonda Rhimes show, so they’ll have to deal with that while “their personal lives intersect.”
How many episodes will it be before someone working for the prosecution on a big trial ends up sleeping with someone working for the defense? We’d guess it’ll happen in the pilot. Maybe before the first commercial break.
