ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition can't help you anymore

After nine seasons of making poor people cry, ABC has canceled the long-running reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the Ty Pennington-hosted, one-time staple of Sunday night feel-good family entertainment. The show—which was replaced first on Sundays by Secret Millionaire, where rich people walk among the downtrodden and give away money, then with the even more outright fantasy Once Upon A Time—will end officially with upcoming episodes on January 6 and 13 set in Joplin, Missouri, where the crew will build one last round of houses for those affected by recent tornadoes. Anyone else affected by terrible natural disasters from here on out will have to rely on FEMA and/or the charity of their own communities when celebrities and cameras aren’t around, or else hope to get on one of the few Extreme Makeover specials the network plans to do occasionally.
