Absolutely Fabulous American remake on the way

Fox has committed to making a pilot for an American remake of the venerable BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous according to the Hollywood Reporter. Co-executive produced by AbFab creator and co-star Jennifer Saunders, the U.S. remake comes largely from Christine Zander, a writer and producer whose resume includes SNL, 3rd Rock From The Sun, and Samantha Who? A previous version, created by Roseanne Barr to star Carrie Fisher, never got off the ground in the '90s.

Will it be the next The Office or the next U.S.-version of Spaced? Our two cents: Cast it right and don't dumb it down and it could take off. If Fisher's still game, sign her up as Edina. That's half the job right there. You're welcome!
