Absolutely Kosher Records is no more
California indie label Absolutely Kosher Records has fallen victim to lean economic times and the perpetually tough climate of the music industry, issuing a statement that it has ceased operations for "the foreseeable future." The label, which has released records by bands like the Mountain Goats, Xiu Xiu, and the Wrens over the past 13 years, is closing down because "we’ve been struggling for years and the only thing on my plate right now is to eliminate our debts and rejuvenate my spirits," says label owner Cory Brown. The label's last release will be Himalayan Bear's Hard Times. Read into that what you will. [Via Pitchfork]
