AC/DC’s Phil Rudd has been charged with trying to have someone murdered
According to New Zealand news website Stuff.co.nz, longtime AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been arrested on a charge of “attempting to procure a murder.” Though the wording of it is a little weird, “attempting to procure a murder” is exactly what it sounds like: Rudd, allegedly, tried to hire someone to have two people killed. Stuff also says Rudd was charged with possession of a methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as “threatening to kill”—which also probably means exactly what it sounds like. We know very little of the story beyond that, though, because the judge on the case hasn’t released the names of the intended victims—or the hitman—to the public.
Though Rudd was kicked out of AC/DC in the ‘80s, he rejoined the roster in the early ‘90s and, we assume, was involved in the process of recording the band’s upcoming Rock Or Bust album. Interestingly, Loudwire noticed that Rudd was absent from a recent video shoot and promotional photo, but that’s not necessarily related to this. As of right now, Rudd has been released on bail and was ordered not to have any contact with the hitman he allegedly tried to hire.
