Adam Brody says The O.C.'s Seth Cohen would probably be dead by now
It’s been seven years since the end of The O.C. reassured us that everything always generally works out for rich teenagers—unless you are like Marissa Cooper, in which case your self-destruction becomes so tedious and repetitive, eventually you die of obviousness. But while the series finale mostly predicted a bright future for everyone who survived, Adam Brody isn’t so sure about Seth Cohen, who was last seen getting married to Summer Roberts, for better or often worse and probably for about six months. “If I had to predict, I'd say Seth Cohen is dead,” Brody tells Nylon. “I think he'd be going down to Mexico and probably had a bad car accident. It wasn't any fault of his own, but yeah, knowing what I know now about Seth and his poor decision-making, that's my guess.”
Brody’s death scenario may as well have been stolen right from The O.C. playbook, which loved both car crashes and treating Mexico like a teenager death trap, where the alleyways are littered with passed-out kids getting back at their dads. But it’s a surprisingly violent end for the show’s one character whose biggest problem seemed to be whether to pursue a career in comic books, or just sort of hang out with his hot girlfriend in either of their palatial mansions. Still, as always, don’t feel too bad for Seth: “I mean, he's probably hanging out in heaven watching Jimi Hendrix and Lou Reed live,” Brody continued. “He's probably getting the best concert ever!” And if not, well, in Hell, everyone gets into the Rooney show.
