Adele might finally tour the U.S. in 2012

The runaway success of Adele’s 21 is the music story of the year, and the album’s popularity in the U.S. is even more incredible considering she hasn’t been able to complete an American tour in support of it yet. She canceled tours twice this year after suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage, most recently in early October. Adele might need surgery to correct the problem, which is considered treatable and shouldn’t impact her career long-term. Which is good for Adele, since concert demand is still high for 2011’s best-selling artist, and it’s expected that she will play arenas next year. For now, Adele is resting her voice, which she wrote recently about on her blog:

if i continue to pick up everything before i have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud. i will be totally and utterly fucked. singing is literally my life, its my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or i risk damaging my voice forever.

In the meantime, Adele will release a DVD, Live At The Royal Albert Hall, on Nov. 29. [via Rolling Stone]
