According to Billboard, Adele’s new single is (digitally) blowing up the charts. The track, “Hello,” was just released last week, and it has already sold 1.11 million copies. That’s enough to land it at No. 1, obviously, but it’s also the first song to ever sell over a million downloads in a single week, destroying the previous record holder—Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” which sold 636,000 in 2009. Billboard says “Hello” has also been streamed over 61.6 million times in the U.S., with the song’s video sitting at over 200 million views on YouTube. Also, there’s no data to back this up, but sales of Adele-style flip phones and gross-looking stovetop pasta dishes or whatever are probably through the roof as well.
If those references don’t make any sense, then you’re probably one of the few people in the world who hasn’t seen the video for “Hello” yet. Feel free to correct that now:
