Adele will perform, post-surgery, at the Grammys
What was rumored has been confirmed: Adele will indeed be performing at the Grammys next month. Though she's been sidelined since November to recuperate from throat surgery, the "Someone Like You" singer announced today that she'll step back into the spotlight to perform at the 54th annual ceremony on Feb. 12. "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait," the singer tweeted earlier today.
Adele, nominated for six awards, joins a high-profile list of performers for the evening—already on the schedule are Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and the Foo Fighters. If Adele can perform the kind of emergency resuscitation act on the Grammys that she did on the record business last year, the awards ceremony will likely enjoy an even greater spike in viewership after a gradual upswing in the few years: In 2011, the awards ceremony logged its highest Nielsen ratings in a decade.
