Laura Jane Grace, founder and frontwoman of punk band Against Me!, has announced that she’s collaborated with Noisey editor Dan Ozzi on a memoir that’s due out this fall. The book, Tranny: Confessions Of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, will combine contemporary writings with written material from her archives. Grace came out as a trans woman in 2012, documenting part of her struggle on the 2014 Against Me! album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. She previously announced the autobiographical work, Kill Me Loudly: A Memoir Of Gender Dysphoria, Music, And Addiction, that was scheduled for publication in January 2015 but doesn’t appear to have been reviewed.
Ozzi told Entertainment Weekly, “The book mixes narrative about Laura’s life—growing up with dysphoria and playing in our generation’s most influential punk band—with amazing journal entries she’s been keeping since she was a kid.” In a 2014 interview with Time, Grace mentioned that she was attempting to mold her numerous touring journals into a single book. Tranny will be published by Hachette Books on November 15; Grace shared the news as well as the cover art Monday on her Instagram account.
