Alas, that collaborative LP from The Flaming Lips and Ke$ha is no more

The time has come to weep boozy, psychedelic tears, for the rumored collaborative LP from The Flaming Lips and Ke$ha is no more. Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said earlier this year that Lip$ha would see the light of day in the near future, noting that the two entities loved working together, and had a “blast on all levels.” Unfortunately, that blast has since become an implosion, with Coyne tweeting today that “there will be no Lip$ha,” though he “can’t say why.”

Stereogum is positing that the dissolution of the partnership is less due to love lost between the two parties, and more because of the ironclad hold RCA Records might have on Ke$ha’s wacky image. Earlier this year, the singer told Rolling Stone that her singles “have just perpetuated a particular image that may or may not be entirely accurate,” and, while she said she’d “like to show the world other sides of my personality,” she admitted she pretty much has no control over her creative product.
