Director Alex Proyas may have been thwarted in his effort to transform Paradise Lost into the 3-D story of angels machine-gunning demons that it always was in the minds of bored high school students, but he's set to console himself with another tale of immortals on an epic, probably very loud and visually busy adventure. Proyas is attached to co-write and direct Gods Of Egypt, the tale of a "common thief and a god on a magical quest" for something, probably not to get laid. Egypt's very own Clash Of The Titans—which will even have that franchise's producer, Basil Iwanyk, on board—will take place amid pyramids, sphinxes, and whatever easily marketable, probably anachronistic embellishments have been cooked up by Dracula Year Zero and "futuristic Jungle Book" writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. There are probably going to be so many swooping phoenixes in this movie. You shall never again want for shots of swooping phoenixes.
