Alexandra Daddario joins Kate Upton road-trip sex comedy

Since the words “Kate Upton” and “great actor” go together as naturally as pencil shavings and venison meat, it’s only logical that William H. Macy cast her in the starring role of his second film as a director. And now that next year’s Best Actress Oscar is all locked up, he can fill out the rest of the cast. Variety reports that Alexandra Daddario has signed on to join the cast of The Layover, a road-trip sex comedy.

Daddario and Upton will star as best friends who “decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation, only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning.” During their ensuing Planes, Trains, And Automobiles-style travails, the two end up fighting over the same guy, because this is a Hollywood movie and women certainly can’t not do that. What, are they going to fight over equal pay for equal work?

Daddario is replacing Lea Michele, whom we had originally reported as being cast in the role. Perhaps Michele, much like the plane in this movie’s description, was rerouted due to a warning of impending disaster—namely, the threat of starring in a movie with Kate Upton. Daddario, a great actor, will certainly have her work cut out for her.
