Alien: Covenant signs Empire’s Jussie Smollett and more
Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant continues to assemble its cinematic crew, having picked up The Hateful Eight’s Demián Bichir earlier this week for an unspecified role. Now Deadline reports that four new actors have enlisted, led by Empire’s Jussie Smollett, whose spaceship and/or scientist duties are also being kept under wraps. In space, no one can hear you scream, but maybe a Jamal Lyon slow jam will soothe the savage beast? Probably not, so we hope Smollett will be given some kind of exo-suit. Also joining Smollett in his doom or escape pod are Selma’s Carmen Ejogo, The Killing’s Amy Seimetz, and Bichir’s Machete Kills co-star Callie Hernandez. And now here’s the requisite reminder that Covenant will be set ten years in the Prometheus future, with no Noomi Rapace, but with Danny McBride. It’s an even trade, we guess.
