The first trailer for Netflix’s GLOW series has arrived, featuring Alison Brie in big hair, nude lipstick, and stonewashed jeans as Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress who joins up with fledgling pro-wrestling outlet Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling in mid-’80s Los Angeles. The trailer paints the show as a sort of comedic female empowerment tale, with Ruth and the other gorgeous ladies finding themselves through the power of spandex and broad caricature under the guidance of washed-up B-movie director Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron). Betty Gilpin co-stars as Ruth’s rival, former soap-opera star Debbie Eagan, in the series, which was created by Homeland and Nurse Jackie’s Liz Flahive and Orange Is The New Black’s Carly Mensch.
The drugs are in the fucking robot starting June 23 on Netflix.
