All eyes are on the first teaser for the Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me
In honor of Tupac Shakur’s birthday—he would have turned 45 today—the first teaser for the biopic All Eyez On Me has dropped. Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr., whose father worked with Shakur on The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, stars as the West Coast-repping rapper. Danai Gurira plays the late Afeni Shakur and provides the voiceover for the teaser over strains of “Ambitionz Az A Ridah”. The Instagram format isn’t ideal, but you can still feast your eyes on the trappings of success, which Afeni Shakur warns her son will only lead to ruin. As Tupac takes the stage, his mother begs him to remain true to himself.
Directed by Benny Boom, All Eyez On Me also stars The Wire’s Jamie Hector, Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead), and Ray’s Clifton Powell. Jamal Woodard, who played the Notorious B.I.G. in Notorious, reprises his role here. A release date for the film has yet to be set.
