All hail The Cube, the music video of the future

Banishing the outdated notion of flat, quadrilateral music video viewing, Australian electronic duo The Presets and Google’s Creative Labs have taken the experience into interactive three-dimensional space. The Tube is dead; all hail the Cube:

Running on HTML5 and WebGL, Google describes the Cube as “an experimental platform for interactive storytelling.” In this presentation of The Presets’ single “No Fun,” manipulating the cube allows users to emphasize different pieces of the composition along with their custom-designed visuals, letting viewers remix the track live—and differently—each time. Google had previously used the Cube for its Maps project, but this implementation shows that applications for the software have much broader potential. [via The Verge]
