All hail The Divergent Series: Allegiant teaser trailer
Shailene Woodley is winding down her screen time as Veronica Roth’s girl who liberates Chicago in the Divergent series. Lucky for her (if not for us), the final book was stretched into a two-part movie finale, and the trailer for the beginning of the end of all this eugenics stuff was released today.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant sees Tris (Woodley) and her companions—including Four (Theo James), a fellow Divergent—once again trying to patch the rift among all the warring factions in Chicago and beyond. The teaser reminds us of the taglines and people we’ve lost along the way, including Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet’s characters.
Following the events of Insurgent, Tris & Co. set out from Chicago to see the rest of the country, which looks like it’s been through a scorch trial of its own. They’ll have their hands full dealing with the previously unknown Allegiant faction, as well as Octavia Spencer’s Amity group. Tris will go head-to-head with David (Jeff Daniels), the head of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, who asks her to help him save the world. They’ll also have to fight off drones that look like Roombas, perhaps because Amazon becomes its own city in the future.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant hits theaters on March 18, 2016.
