All of Gilmore Girls coming to Netflix October 1

In news that’s perfectly timed to the changing of the leaves and the ritual consumption of ungodly amounts of food, Netflix will make every episode of Gilmore Girls available for streaming on October 1. The story broke as an exclusive on Decider, the pop-culture site whose launch partner just so happens to be the video service where you can find “They Shoot Gilmores, Don’t They?” next month. (Though it seems like a partner would’ve let someone at Decider know that Melissa McCarthy’s Sookie St. James was a little more than a “guest star”—she’s in the opening credits!) The annexation of Stars Hollow means Netflix subscribers are but an Everwood away from being able to reconstruct vintage WB lineups for their binge-viewing pleasure, whiling away an autumn evening by pairing, say, Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s “Hush” with seven consecutive installments of motor-mouthed Gilmore Girls action.

Meanwhile, Bunheads, Amy Sherman-Palladino’s spiritual successor to Gilmore Girls, stays trapped in a streaming purgatory. Until some subscription-based benefactor like Netflix or Hulu comes along, it’ll just be twirling, twirling, twirling for a couple bucks a pop on Amazon and iTunes.
