Alpha House gets second season, Doonesbury back on hiatus

The same week that Amazon Studios announced a promising new slate of pilots, it's also renewed political comedy Alpha House for a second season. The show's initial 11-episode run just wrapped up last month, but there's no word yet on how many episodes the second season will have or when it will air. Appropriately, Betas seems to be of secondary importance, as Amazon has not yet announced that show's fate.

As he did while scripting the first season, Alpha House creator Garry Trudeau will put his long-running comic strip Doonesbury on hold while he writes more episodes, running new comics only on Sundays, with reruns filling out the rest of the week. Until Trudeau's TV work is finished, weekday readers can look forward to catching up on all the Mitt Romney jokes they missed the first time around.
