Altered Carbon to welcome back at least two familiar faces next season
Given the basic premise of Altered Carbon–people change into different bodies or “sleeves” at will–it seemed likely that at least a few faces from the first season would return for season two. Deadline confirms as much, piggybacking on a new casting announcement video from Netflix, which reveals that Chris Conner and Renée Elise Goldsberry will reprise their roles as Poe (you’re damn right) and Quellchrist Falconer (somehow not a Hunger Games character), respectively. They’re joining Anthony Mackie, who will take on the role of Takeshi Kovacs, a soldier-turned-mercenary on a mission to reunite with Quellchrist, the badass warrior woman who trained (and loved) him. Joel Kinnaman played Takeshi in the first season.
Also on deck for the second installment are Simone Missick (Marvel’s Luke Cage), Torben Liebrecht (Operation Finale), and James Saito (The Terror). The second season of the series, based on the novel by Richard Morgan, will continue following Takeshi on a mission that has spanned centuries and various skin-bags. Conner’s return as Poe is good news for fans of the first season, as his helpful AI was an instant favorite, and it’s nice to know that at least one person–or computer, whatever–won’t be changing faces on us. Previously, series creator and producer Laeta Kalogridis said we might see Poe and/or Reileen (Takeshi’s traitorous sister, played by Dichen Lachman) again–the latter’s return has yet to be confirmed.
