Amazon is probably buying The Lost City Of Z, which is about the Amazon
Well, this is amusing if you look at it in a certain light: according to reports, Amazon is in talks to snag the U.S. rights to The Lost City Of Z. On the surface, the news is fairly cut and dry, but then you realize that the film is about an explorer searching for the titular locale in the Amazon, and you realize Amazon is going to have a movie about the Amazon. That’s worth a chuckle, right?
Anyway, The Lost City Of Z is based on a book by New Yorker reporter David Grann, and stars Charlie Hunnam as Percy Fawcett, who becomes consumed by his desire to find a mysterious city and eventually goes missing himself. (At one point, Benedict Cumberbatch was going to play the lead.) It also features Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson, and Tom Holland, and is set to debut as the closing night film at this year’s New York Film Festival.
